Genetic amniocentesis, ultrasonography and chorionic villus sampling are available to screen for the presence of different disorders, such as neural tube defects and chromosomal abnormalities.

Other non-invasive testing for chromosome abnormalities, such as the first trimester combined test, the second trimester quad screen, and sequential screening are available. Testing options are discussed with families and individuals in order to provide Genetic Counselling.
