Overview

Bone mineral density testing is a way to see if your bones are healthy and strong. A bone mineral density test is used to measure the density (strength) of your bones. A bone mineral density test uses X-rays to measure the amount of mineral, mainly calciumin your bones. This test is important for people who are at risk for osteoporosis, especially women and older adults.
