Overview

In this procedure patient is taken to x-ray department where a guidewire is passed into the stomach under x-ray vision. Subsequently an endoscopy guided Balloon or Bougie dilatation is done. Usually, it requires a day care admission.

Why is it done?

In patients who are unable to eat normal food due to blockage in the food pipe due to peptic stricture, achalasia or cancer are eligible for this procedure.
