The H3N2 virus is a subtype of influenza A virus that primarily targets our lungs. Not only does it affect humans, but animals and birds, too. This virus can make humans sick and cause respiratory problems. According to experts, this particular strain has the potential to mutate and can give birth to new strains. This has made this virus more dangerous. However, understanding this disease and taking a few measures can help you protect yourself and your loved ones.

  • Throat ache or sore throat
  • Cough with white colour phlegm
  • Vomiting
  • Fever

These symptoms can stay up to a week. However, in some cases, patients can endure them for a longer time. If you experience pain or discomfort in the chest, trouble breathing, continuous fever and difficulty swallowing food due to pain in the throat, immediately seek medical help.

H3N2 virus is a highly contagious virus that can spread from droplets emitted when an infected person sneezes, coughs or speaks.

Prevention

Some simple measures are enough to keep yourself and your loved ones safe from this virus.

  • Use face mask
  • Avoid contact with sick people
  • Drink plenty of water
  • Avoid crowded areas
  • Take recommended vaccines timely
  • Frequently wash your hands
  • Cover mouth and nose with a handkerchief or tissue paper while coughing and sneezing

The treatment usually includes getting enough rest, drinking plenty of liquids and taking prescribed medicines. And also follow up with your doctor until you feel better again.
